Pirate Math Equation Quest is a word-problem intervention for third-grade students who require supplemental remediation in word-problem solving. Students receive explicit instruction on reading, interpreting, setting up, and solving word problems with a focus on schemas. Students also receive modeling and practice related to understanding the equal sign and equation solving.
The Pirate Math Equation Quest website includes all teacher, student, and supplemental materials for the three versions of the intervention: individual intervention, small-group intervention, and test prep intervention. The website also houses videos that demonstrate how to implement all intervention components.
