Overview

Our research will examine how Read Well, an evidence-based program that follows the science of teaching reading approach, supports struggling readers. When you join this study, trained staff will provide regular reading interventions for eligible first-grade students from October 2022 to March 2023 for free.

Eligibility

Schools with diverse populations are eligible. First-grade students identified as struggling readers by their teachers will be screened for participation.

Compensation or Other Benefits

Free materials and support from research staff throughout the duration of this study. Schools keep materials at the end of the study.

Read Well has been associated with positive outcomes for letter names, letter sounds, and word reading development in kindergarten. Similar positive outcomes may exist in first grade.

Participating teachers will receive a small stipend.
