The College and Career Readiness Initiative: English/Language Arts Faculty Collaborative hosted a symposium for teacher-education and English faculty members on September 16 and 17 in Houston. The symposium, titled “Disciplinary Literacy for Success in College and Careers,” included keynote speakers Dr. Tim Shanahan of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Dr. Carol Lee of Northwestern University. Several breakout sessions addressed issues of critical importance in preparing teachers to address the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards.
