Dr. Deborah Reed, assistant professor at The University of Texas at El Paso, is the recipient of the Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) Outstanding Researcher Award for 2010. The award was based on her dissertation, titled The Contribution of Retell to the Identification of Struggling Adolescent Readers, which she completed under the supervision of MCPER Executive Director Sharon Vaughn. Reed, the former project leader of MCPER’s Texas Adolescent Literacy Academies, received her award at CLD’s 32nd International Conference on Learning Disabilities, held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was also appointed a member of CLD’s Research Committee. Congratulations to Dr. Reed!
