MCPER researcher Audrey Leroux will lead a brown bag presentation titled “A Preliminary Overview of Mediation and Moderation” from noon to 1 p.m. on December 6 in the Pittenger Room (SZB 418). To RSVP, send an e-mail with “Leroux” in the subject line to rsvp@meadowscenter.org.
Drawing upon the information from a workshop hosted by Andrew Hayes and Kristopher Preacher, Leroux will describe mediation, moderation, and conditional process monitoring and provide visual depictions and examples. She also will explore various models, including simple mediation, parallel and serial multiple mediation, moderation of a dichotomous variable’s effect by a continuous variable, moderation of a continuous variable’s effect by a dichotomous variable, and mediated moderation. In addition, Leroux will lead a brief discussion on causality as well as statistical inference and interpretation under each type of method.
