Researchers with MCPER’s Reading Institute have won the National Association for School Psychologists Best Article Award for 2010. The article, “Response to Intervention for Middle School Students With Reading Difficulties: Effects of a Primary and Secondary Intervention,” examines the effectiveness of a yearlong reading intervention with a group of sixth-graders. Students who received the researcher-provided intervention scored significantly higher than students who received a comparison intervention on the state accountability measure, and measures of word attack, spelling, passage comprehension, and phonemic decoding efficiency.
