Diane Pedrotty Bryant, director of the Mathematics Institute for Learning Disabilities and Difficulties, was selected to present at the Teaching Mathematics to Students Within the RtI Process: Building a Research Community conference on May 10–11, in Arlington, Virginia. The goal of the conference, co-sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, was to begin the process of building a community of mathematics education and special education professionals to engage in research and professional development. Bryant submitted the proposal with Dr. Helen Taylor Martin of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Texas Austin. MCPER’s Dr. Brian Bryant and Dr. Leanne Ketterlin Geller of the Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University, both Mathematics Institute fellows, participated as research project team members.
